Eirianfa is ideally placed for a country holiday in North Wales. Dolwyddelan itself is a small village with a river running through it (and a medieval castle - Dolwyddelan Castle - for more details follow link on left ) There is a country pub and a local convenience shop well stocked with essentials - both within stepping distance of the house. There is a well-resourced and extensive play area in the village, suitable for young children.

The location is an excellent base for a range of activities as well as visits to a wide choice of the well known beauty spots for which North Wales is famed. The area should have something for everyone from kite fliers to climbers; Porthmadog beach for families; the Snowdon range for climbers and touring; Betws-y-Coed for shoppers and for its restaurants, bars - and a great green for relaxing, picnicking and playing. The surrounding North Wales National Park is a Mecca for bird-watchers with its rich variety of habitat from bogs to rocky crags, woodland, river estuaries and coastline. Glaslyn Osprey Centre at Porthmadog should be well worth a visit! And whether or not you remember its part in TVs cult series The Prisoner, the Italianate structure of the village of Port Meirion is a fascinating place to visit and to sample the traditional pottery!
